As part of Sir Cameron Mackintosh’s revival of his London theatres, the Novello Theatre formerly known as the Strand Theatre has been completely refurbished and updated by the Arts Team. Designed by W.G.R. Sprague, and opened in 1905, the intricate opulent style of the original has been restored throughout.
“This previously drab and dusty venue now gleams with polished marble and gilt. The bars are unusually spacious, the seats exceptionally comfortable ... The whole place has a sense of style and occasion about it.”
Charles Spencer, The Daily Telegraph, 19 December 2005
On the exterior, the building has been cleaned, newly designed illuminated signage added and the original canopy over the entrance restored and painted.
