The Sondheim Theatre, constructed as part of the Queen's and Gielgud Theatres complex that we refurbished and extended, was the West End's first new performance venue in 30 years.
The 500-seat flexible space is located high up behind the façade of the existing building. Patrons enter from Shaftesbury Avenue, climbing the new grand staircase, past the other foyers to the new Sondheim foyer, which overlooks the gardens of the adjacent church.
The project represented a unique opportunity and a chance to reinvigorate the heart of London's theatreland. Arts Team designed the Sondheim in association with Martin McCallum.
